Singing loud and proud in South Yorkshire

On Sunday 15th November, contestants met up at radio station Penistone FM for the final northern show for Junior Star Singer this year on the national tour.  Penistone is the highest market town in the country and one of the best-kept secrets in South Yorkshire and the Pennines. Penistone FM serves Penistone and the surrounding area broadcasting on 95.7FM and streaming online.

Junior Star Singer arrived once again with a mix of excited and nervous contestants from the northern area who were greeted by last year's winner, Kasey-Wray Wooderson, who won in the best vocalist category for Junior Star Singer 2017. 

Since winning Junior Star Singer Songwriter in 2016, Kasey Wray
has made appearances on radio and TV stations across the country.

A native of Sheffield, Kasey had the chance to record a song with top record producer Anthony Goldsbrough and have her track played across the whole of the tour this year.  She has also made appearances on BBC radio, as well as TV networks and other radio stations across the country.  Kasey met up with some of the contestants to help ease the pressure before they went on to compete for the big prize.  Check her out here at the station! Radio presenter Jimbo Wilmhurst from Penistone FM presented the show and interviewed Amanda Neale about the competition and starting up the platform for young artists in the music industry on radio. Jimbo was joined by contestants Max Hudson, Anya Marie Bryant and Emily Johnson.  Take a look at our fabulous contestants from the Sheffield region this year.  They all did great!!!!!!

The final for Junior Star Singer 2017 will be on November 12th 2017.
